Well, here we are, ready to embark on a new decade! Wow! I really can’t believe that it’s 2020 and we’re in the first full week of a new year.

I want to say first and foremost that I am so grateful for each and every one of you. I appreciate each follow, like and comment that you share with me each day. Maple Creek Market wouldn’t be where it is today without your support, encouragement, and community. I'm so grateful for you!

So, you might be wondering: what's on tap for this year? What's next for Maple Creek? I'm excited to get to work on fresh content, INCLUDING fun collaborations with some very special companies. These new endeavors will give the farmhouse a whole new look in some spaces. Stay tuned, because during the month of January we're working with….*drumroll please*….RUSTICA HARDWARE! (@RusticaHardware) They have sent us some amazing doors that are going in the mudroom! I can't wait to get them installed and share the finished product with you.

But! Up first, I gave the living room a new look for a new decade. I had the privilege of working with Boutique Rugs again to give the space a fresh, clean slate. Ya'll, I LOVE this company! If you don't have one of their rugs, you're missing out! Beautiful quality and so great for indoor/outdoor projects. The rug laid the groundwork for a cozy winter vibe in the farmhouse. I've linked the one in the picture. Make sure you don't miss their 50% OFF winter sale as well!

If you peek at the corner of the photo, you'll also see a floor lamp from Bright Tech. I love the modern vibe it adds to the room. Bonus! It makes for the perfect couch-reading nook. You can check out my pick here and their IG at @BrightTechShop

I know January can be a tough month – it's a time of goal-setting and fresh starts, but also an "in-between" transition coming off of the holidays, kids going back to school, work starting to pick up again. Plus, up here in NY we get the winter weather & grey skies. Jumping into a project and setting fresh intention for the year ahead has really helped me shake off the blues.

Let me know in the comment how YOU are approaching your new year / new decade. Any resolutions? How 'bout a word?

I'd love to hear your upcoming décor plans, or things you'd like to see from Maple Creek Market in the months ahead.

Thanks for reading!

Blessings,

Ginny

We call this bedroom number five in the farmhouse, or the "little boys'" room. It’s housed my two youngest boys up until this past August when they went away to college.

It’s really the perfect bedroom for guest because it has a pocket door that leads into a bathroom. Convenient and allows for a little extra privacy.

I wanted to keep the same bedding for cost purposes (plus, I love it!) from Linens and Hutch. I freshened up the room with an area rug and new pillows. For the rug, I chose a beautiful flat weave from Well Woven Rugs to anchor the space. Since the duvet covers were black-and-white strips, I knew I wanted to add more patter and texture with the rug. It's perfect for any space, indoor or outdoor!

I also knew I wanted to add pillows that would make a statement, so I chose these adorable Santa pillows from Piper Classics. These pillows would make any guest feel welcome and ready for Christmas...am I right?!

Onto the wall décor – I wanted something SIMPLE, yet whimsical. To cut costs I used stars that I already had, but painted them gold and hung them at different levels. I think the height variation adds a nice bit of visual interest on the wall. Finishing touches include fresh greens from Wegmans (a wonderful family grocery chain up here in NY) and attached it to an old farmyard gate the kids made when we first moved here.

And that's my Christmas bedroom! As you can see, easy to accomplish on a tight budget and DIY-friendly, my two must-haves! Let me know if you try to replicate this look on Instagram, or send me pics of YOUR Christmas rooms. I'd love to share some of my favorites as we lead up to the holiday season!

When I began plotting & planning my Christmas decor this season, two words kept jumping into my head: cozy and magical.

So, of course I set off to bring those words to life! What better way to ring in the holiday season? The first order of business was to find a rug that would set the stage for the rest of the decor in the room. When I found the Jenna Natural rug from Orian Rugs, I knew it would be the perfect foundation for the rest of the room. This rug is made in the USA (check!), is indoor/outdoor (for those "accidental" muddy footprints) and is fade & shed resistance. For those of you with kids, or even just a messy significant other, that's a whole lot of "YES" in one package!

The next must on my list was to find the perfect bedding. I turned to Piper Classics because they have such a wide selection of holiday bedding. The farmhouse ticking red bedding (shop it HERE!) added the merriest little touch to the master bedroom. Its softness and coziness just shout "Merrrry Christmmmas!" I also added some throw pillows to go with the bedding. The Hello Christmas pillow is from @bridgewaydesigns. You guys have seen me use them before – they always have the cutest designs for each season.

For the focal wall I added vintage shutters I found at a barn sale, paired with a sign from Hampton Repurposed Wood that brings a festive touch to the room.

This season I encourage you to think outside the box and make your décor, yours. Make sure you love the spaces that you’re creating during this time of year. It will help make the season merry and bright.

In case you're curious, I've listed links below for the other items in the room.

Also, two other blog treats for you! My sweet friend Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage was generous enough to share a slice of the Maple Creek story and a little tour of our home with her followers! Head that way to see the article, and check out her beautiful blog while you're at it...

PLUS, Kelly Elko, of KellyElko.com, shared a quick virtual look at life on the farm. If pumpkins & sheep are your thing, see that here. Visit Kelly's blog to see home tours from eclectic homes all over AND DIY goodies! It's always a party with friends!

What is your Christmas decor plan this year? I’d love to hear in the comments below! Do you prefer the classic red and white color palette, or are you bringing a fun or unexpected color to your holiday décor? Be sure to tag me on IG, @maplecreekmarket, if you use any of these tips. I'll be reposting my favorites over the next week!

Until next time,

Ginny
