We call this bedroom number five in the farmhouse, or the "little boys'" room. It’s housed my two youngest boys up until this past August when they went away to college.

It’s really the perfect bedroom for guest because it has a pocket door that leads into a bathroom. Convenient and allows for a little extra privacy.

I wanted to keep the same bedding for cost purposes (plus, I love it!) from Linens and Hutch. I freshened up the room with an area rug and new pillows. For the rug, I chose a beautiful flat weave from Well Woven Rugs to anchor the space. Since the duvet covers were black-and-white strips, I knew I wanted to add more patter and texture with the rug. It's perfect for any space, indoor or outdoor!

I also knew I wanted to add pillows that would make a statement, so I chose these adorable Santa pillows from Piper Classics. These pillows would make any guest feel welcome and ready for Christmas...am I right?!

Onto the wall décor – I wanted something SIMPLE, yet whimsical. To cut costs I used stars that I already had, but painted them gold and hung them at different levels. I think the height variation adds a nice bit of visual interest on the wall. Finishing touches include fresh greens from Wegmans (a wonderful family grocery chain up here in NY) and attached it to an old farmyard gate the kids made when we first moved here.

And that's my Christmas bedroom! As you can see, easy to accomplish on a tight budget and DIY-friendly, my two must-haves! Let me know if you try to replicate this look on Instagram, or send me pics of YOUR Christmas rooms. I'd love to share some of my favorites as we lead up to the holiday season!

Welcome to the fall porch here at Maple Creek!

This year, as in years past, I wanted the porch to display all of the fall goodness that you find here at our farm. I grabbed cornstalks from the field & lots of pumpkins from our pumpkin patch and set to work. I’m not sure why but I absolutely love the look of pumpkins spilling down the front steps of the farmhouse. It makes me smile...so that’s what I did. You have to love what you’re creating and make it your own!

I also wanted to give it a cozy look so I used lights from Better Homes & Gardens to frame the space. I put them at the top of the porch and wove them throughout the pumpkins down the steps. Next, to keep the “cozy” vibe going, I used lanterns from The Christmas Tree Shop and Wegmans. I’m kind of a lantern junkie, so I love to keep several on-hand to decorate a space. One tip I’ve found is to look for lanterns at the end of every season. They usually go on sale, so you can store them and pull them out when you need them.

For the door this year I choose a galvanized piece from (surprise!) Better Homes & Gardens as well. I let my little mailbox from Hobby Lobby stay put. It’s one of my favorite purchases, definitely a year-round staple! The signs displayed are from TJ Maxx. I found them both when I was out shopping one weekend and thought they would be a nice addition to the fall porch.

If I could offer one piece of decor advice when decorating an outdoor space, it would be this: try to use AS MANY of the natural elements as possible. Keep it organic, fresh and beautiful. For example, I incorporated hay bales, fresh mums, ferns and cornstalks for maximum effect & low cost. In the warmer seasons, I use fresh flowers from the garden wherever possible. Decorating doesn’t have to break the bank! You can have a beautiful space that you love, even on a tight budget.

Friends, I’d love to know how you tackled your “fall porch.” Tag me in your pictures! I’ll be reposting my favorites on my IG stories over the coming weeks. As always, thanks for reading! Comment below or share this post to spread the love!

Blessings,

Hello, friends! Welcome to October! Happy cooler temperatures, pumpkin spice and falling leaves. I’d be lying if I said I’m not like a little kid during this season here on the farm. Our pumpkin patch bursting with pumpkins…the cornfield overflowing with cornstalks…the chill and smell of fall in the air…it’s enough to give this farm girl *heart eyes* for days.

But enough about me! As per your request (and thank you for your patience), drum roll please: I’m going to cut right to the pictures and sources for the FARMHOUSE LIVING ROOM TOUR here at Maple Creek Market. Hooray!

This space got a total refresh this season with a fresh coat of bright white paint from Behr paints. Their Marque paint and primer-in-one always get the job done. Plus, you can stock up now and have enough for those Christmas touch-ups.

We also put a new rug from Well Woven Rugs, @wellwovenrugs in this space. It sets the tone for the entire color palette in my fall decor. The quality and craftsmanship from this rug did not disappoint! Absolutely beautiful, as always. We love the plush, cozy vibes it gives the space.

I also transitioned the sectional sofa from @homereserve from our TV room into its new home here. It changes things up a bit and gives it that nudge toward lazy-day Saturdays, which are my favorite kind! (When I’m not going on a DIY-spree, that is…)

The mantle is one of my favorite spots to go all-out with decorations. I found the wooden scroll from @kirklands on clearance and thought it would be a beautiful focal point with the wreath from Floral Treasure, @floraltreasure resting on top. Never underestimate the power of a good bargain! I almost never buy things if they aren’t on sale, because this momma of four is loving the bargain life. Plus, it keeps Mr. Maple Creek happy! I’m a big fan of layering décor like this because it adds depth and visual interest to the space.

Friends, let me know in the comments below or on Instagram, @maplecreekmarket: What are YOUR favorite ways to decorate your mantle? What are you most excited about for fall? Send me your favorite fall mantle pics, and I'll share them on my stories! Have a wonderful week! Enjoy the colder temps and changing-of-the-season...

Blessings,

Ginny
